Would you like to be the OPENING ACT for one of our festival events?

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. PLEASE CHECK INDIVIDUAL EVENTS FOR THE DETAILS OF THE EXCITING WRITERS WHO WILL BE OUR OPENING ACTS! Thanks to everyone that applied!  

We are lucky to be surrounded by writers and poets whether published, unpublished, seasoned or just getting going, and we want to give all of you an opportunity to be the opening act across the majority of our festival events!

We are looking for openers for:

Caroline Lucas - SLOT ALLOCATED!

Miki Berenyi - SLOT ALLOCATED!

Clare Chambers - SLOT ALLOCATED!

Karen McLeod - SLOT ALLOCATED!

Anita Rani & Salena Godden - SLOT ALLOCATED!

Henry Normal - SLOT ALLOCATED!

Publishing Panel - to open and close - SLOT ALLOCATED!

Does your work complement the individual events? If so please send an email to info@hastingsbookfest.org with OPENING ACT FOR (insert name of event) in the title, and tell us a little about yourself and how your work would be a great opener. NB we’re not necessarily looking for exactly the same subject, but something that works with the event as a whole. 

Each successful applicant will be given a 3-5 minute slot (including any introduction) to read from their work. We will also add you to the website programme.

You are welcome to apply for multiple events, but please send separate emails for each event.

AND poets can open for novel writers, prose writers can open for memoirists and comedy writers can open for politicians! We’re saying please don’t feel boxed in by genre or style!

We’ll cross the events off the list above as the spaces get filled, so please get your entries in early so as not to miss out!
