About The Event

Owen Thomas is one of Wales's most distinctive contemporary playwrights, renowned for creating powerful, emotionally resonant drama that explores identity, community, and Welsh stories. His acclaimed works include Grav, a moving one man show about the life of rugby legend Ray Gravell. The play has recently completed its 200th performance and the film version won a Welsh BAFTA in 2023. His first American commission, West, received a standing ovation at its debut performance in Milwaukee. He has recently been the inaugural English language Writer in Residence for the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. His short film The Corpse Road will be screened on the BBC this coming autumn.

 

In a career spanning stage, television, and radio, Owen has established himself as a leading voice in Welsh theatre. He is passionate about writing, and his work has won awards in the UK, USA and Australia. At Hastings Book Festival, he will discuss his work,…
