About The Event

THIS EVENT HAS NOW SOLD OUT.

If you would like to be added to a waiting list in case further tickets become available, please email info@haastingsbookfest.org and title your message 'Meet the Agent Waiting List'.

Getting personal feedback from a literary agent is gold dust to writers. They receive too many submissions to respond in a meaningful way. That’s why each year we offer one-to-one sessions with brilliant agents.

TICKETS

Tickets cost £40, which can be purchased on this page.

HOW IT WORKS

Once your place is secured by purchasing a ticket we will send you details about where to send your submission.

This submission should be the first three chapters of your work, along with a brief (1-2 pages) synopsis and received by 5pm on 9th September.

Please note that late submissions may not be accepted by the agent.

On the day you will have up to 20 minutes with the agent, where feedback on your work will be discussed, along with advice offered on how to move to the next level in your journey as a writer.

** By purchasing a ticket you are confirming your availability for a 20-minute slot between 10am - 12.40pm on 15th September, 2023. Exact time slots will be emailed to you.

ABOUT THE AGENT

Hannah Sheppard loves stories. She wants to make sure more fantastic stories from as diverse a group of authors as possible make it onto bookshop shelves.

She worked in-house in editorial for a decade (at Pan Macmillan and Headline Publishing Group) which gives her valuable insight into the workings of a publishing house and an ability to explain the industry and the publishing process from both sides of the business.

She joined the DHH Literary Agency in 2013 when she realised the more senior she got in-house, the less she got to do the bits of her job she really loves – working directly with authors to develop their ideas for commercial success.

In 2023 Hannah launched HS-LA with the aim of being part of the change that publishing so desperately needs.
