Marie in the Margins performer Yasmin Aishah discusses Marie de France’s collection of twelfth-century lai stories as a Sussex coast resident of mixed race who has grown up in a county dominated by 1066-themed narratives. She considers how this literature offers more diverse approaches to this history.
