We are really excited to be meeting VG Lee at home to talk about her experience of entering and judging competitions.

VG Lee is a critically acclaimed author and judge of the Hastings Book Festival Short Story Competition. She will be talking to us about her experience of entering competitions, and what she looks for in a prizewinning entry. How can writers make their work stand out for the crowd when there are hundreds of other entries?

In 2023 VG Lee said that the standard of entries into the Hastings Book Festival competitions were incredibly high, and it was difficult to separate them. She also said there were only small margins between those who almost made the longlist and the eventual winner.
