About The Event

Every family is different. Every family is special.

Come and join this celebration of what it means to be family with prize-winning author Patrice Lawrence.

Patrice introduces her beautiful new picture book, Is That Your Mama? which recognises that families don’t always look the same but every family is truly special.

Then create your own star, like Josie's in the book, to show how special and unique you are!

Suitable for children aged 3 to 7.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This is a free event but space is limited. Please book a ticket for each person attending e.g. if one adult is coming with two children, please book three tickets.

More about Patrice:

Patrice Lawrence was born in Brighton and brought up in an Italian and Trinidadian household.

Her first book for young adults, Orangeboy, was shortlisted for the Costa Children’s Book Award and won the Bookseller YA Prize and Waterstone’s Prize for Older Children's Fiction. Indigo Donut, her second book for teenagers, won the Crimefest YA Prize. Both books have been nominated for the Carnegie Medal.

Patrice worked for more than 20 years for charities supporting equality and social justice. These themes (along with a serious amount of music) inform her stories. Patrice lives in Hastings.
