Time & Location

About The Event
With nearly a quarter of a million followers, writer and cook Richard Makin has found worldwide fame on Instagram as ‘@schoolnightvegan’. His posts are lively, funny, engaging and informative. But how do you turn an internet sensation into a cookery book? Well, Richard has managed it with his new book Anything You Can Cook, I Can Cook Vegan.
Join Richard as he talks about his life, his book, his recipes, and how he goes about re-inventing traditionally meaty dishes into delicious vegan feasts. He will be in conversation with Rye nutritionist, Sonja Colman.
The event will last approximately one hour and will include an audience Q and A. It will be followed by a book signing.
Richard is not only a vegan cook, food writer and blogger… he also lives in Hastings!
He has been exploring the world of plant-based cuisine since November 2017 when he switched from being a life-long vegetarian to full-time vegan! Back then he worked in street food, running London’s first artisan ice cream sandwich van.
In 2020 he was voted ‘Best Vegan Blogger’ at the Vegan Food & Living Magazine Reader Awards and writes a monthly spread for Olive magazine. He is food editor for Wicked Healthy, and has contributed to BBC Good Food Magazine. Alongside his writing, Richard is a vegan menu consultant and recipe developer.
Richard’s unique approach to social media has made him an internet sensation, with nearly 3 million online fans following him and his recipes.
His first book Anything You Can Cook, I Can Cook Vegan was published earlier this year.
